Gentle Yoga Poses

There are various gentle yoga poses for the body to settle into deep relaxation. While some of these poses can cultivate a deep sense of tranquility and quiet the mind, they may also be more advanced. Older individuals or those who may be less flexible may have problems maintaining these poses for long periods of time. It is for these reasons that restorative yoga is extremely beneficial.

Restorative yoga is a practice that uses props to help the practitioner maintain a position. Common props include mats, pillows, and towels. These items help conform the body to a certain pose. They can be placed on the arch of the back, head, behind the knees, or on the arms.

Restorative yoga proves to be a beneficial therapy for so many people because it eliminates the concentration and strain from having to maintain awkward positions. When you do not have to strain, you can spend more of your energy just relaxing and surrendering to the calm and quiet of your mind.

There are plenty of easy yoga poses for a beginner to easily settle into. One of them is the Supported Child’s Pose. In this position, you rest on your elbows and knees while your midsection is supported by pillows. The props eliminate the need for your abs to tighten to keep the position. Another pose is known as the Legs-Up-The-Wall. As the name suggests, your legs are propped together against a wall while your upper body lies on the floor with your lower back supported by a pillow.

There are various types of gentle yoga poses, each of which help stimulate the energy centers in your body. This helps the energy flow more freely. This will manifest in the form of less stress, more alertness, better concentration, and a range of other benefits.
